Due to demand, Sparks have added new UK and European shows to their summer tour plans.

Brothers Ron and Russell Mael will headline York's Barbican on August 25 and Southend's Cliffs Pavilion on August 26, both cities where they last played in 1974, alongside new shows in Nijmegen in the Netherlands on August 20 and Antwerp in Belgium on August 29.

The new dates add to the art-pop duo's previously scheduled headline shows in London for Live At Chelsea, Glasgow for the Big Nights Out series, Blackpool, Bournemouth and Bristol. They'll also support Gorillaz at London's Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on June 20, followed by performances at Green Man festival in Brecon, Wales, and Festival Cabaret Vert in France later in the summer. They also have concerts in Japan, Australia and New Zealand next month.

Tickets for their new shows go on general sale at 9am BST/10am CEST on Friday (April 17). All other dates are on sale now.

Sparks are touring in support of their latest album, 'MAD!', which dropped in May last year, followed by the 'MADDER!' EP in October. They also released 2013's 'Annette (An Opera By Sparks)' digitally late last year.
