Neil Diamond has announced a new album of songs that he recorded during his studio sessions with Rick Rubin in the 2000s.
Titled 'Wild At Heart' and due out through Capitol/UMe on May 8, the album marks the legendary singer-songwriter's third and final collaborative album with the superproducer, following 2005's '12 Songs' and 2008's 'Home Before Dark', both of which got deluxe resissues in 2024.
The songs featured on 'Wild At Heart' were initially recorded during the same sessions for 'Home Before Dark', alongside keyboardist Benmont Tench and guitarist Mike Campbell of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, as well as guitarists Smokey Hormel and Matt Sweeney.
Recently revisiting the material, Diamond fleshed out nine new songs to be released for the first time alongside an alternate version of the 'Home Before Dark' track Forgotten.
As a preview, Diamond has shared the record's uplifting country-tinged title track. He said: "My work with Rick was a labor of love, and I’m so gratified that these songs will finally be set free into the world to complete our trilogy of work."
Diamond was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease in 2018 and retired from touring that same year. Since then, he has released a number of live records and reissues of previous albums.
'Wild At Heart' tracklist:
