Nas And The Roots To Headline Roots Picnic London As Part Of Palace Bowl Presents Series This Summer

The first international edition of the Philadelphia hip hop festival Roots Picnic will take place in London as part of the inaugural Palace Bowl Presents series this summer.

Taking over Crystal Palace Bowl on August 8 and 9, Roots Picnic London will see Nas (pictured) and The Roots headline day one with a special two-hour joint set. They'll be joined by Sasha Keable, a J.PERIOD Live Mixtape featuring Black Thought and Yasiin Bey and Benny The Butcher, as well as Nia Smith.

Day two will feature a Sunday Jam set from Robert Glasper and Questlove with special guest Common and Bilal, as well as headliner Anthony Hamilton, who performs in the UK for the first time, with support from Musiq Soulchild, Floetry and Gotts Street Park with Olive Jones. Both days will feature sounds by Benji B. Tickets go on general sale at 12pm on Tuesday (April 21).

The Roots Picnic was founded by hip hop band The Roots with its first edition taking place in Philadelphia in 2008. Previous line-ups have included Lil Wayne, The Weeknd, Pharrell, Snoop Dogg, Phantogram, Usher, Nas, A$AP Rocky, Future, Vampire Weekend, The War On Drugs, Diplo, Gnarls Barkley and more. This year's edition will be headlined by JAŸ-Z and The Roots and Erykah Badu.

London's Palace Bowl Presents series will also host headliners Grace Jones, Tom Jones, Gary Numan, Masayoshi Takanaka, co-headliners Bastille and The Wombats, and Davido, as well as Mahrajan, an Arabic music festival by Abu Recordings, and the Gospel Garden mini-festival featuring Kirk Franklin. Tickets for those shows are on sale.
