Idlewild have announced 30th anniversary shows in Edinburgh and London.

The Scottish alt-rock stalwarts will celebrate 30 years since their debut concert with two special gigs, a homecoming show at Edinburgh's Usher Hall on December 18 and a performance at London's O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire on December 19. Announcing the dates in a social media post, the band reflected:

"It was January 1996 when Idlewild first took to the stage at the Subway Club in Edinburgh to perform our debut concert.

"Thirty years later, to celebrate this anniversary, we are pleased to announce two very special shows at Edinburgh’s Usher Hall on Friday 18th December and London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire on Sat 19th December."

Ahead of the new dates, Idlewild will play previously scheduled shows at Arbroath Music and Food Festival and Glasgow's Summer Nights at Kelvingrove Bandstand concert series next month. 

Tickets for the new dates go on general sale at 10am on Friday (July 31), while tickets for their summer shows are on sale now.

Idlewild released their latest album, a self-titled record, last October and supported it with their first UK tour in six years that autumn.
