Ferguson Hi-Fi, a new Scottish band led by Pete Ferguson, who previously released music as Wuh Oh, have unveiled a video for their debut single, Get Over It.

Released via Movie Records earlier this month, the upbeat burst of guitar-pop captures the thrill and joy of starting fresh and features guitarist Stevie Jackson of Belle and Sebastian and bassist Dave McGowan of Teenage Fanclub.

Jackson contributed to the track after Ferguson wrote and produced Belle and Sebastian's single I Don’t Know What You See In Me from their 2023 album 'Late Developers'. The bandleader has also previously penned hits for several other artists, notably Sophie Ellis-Bextor, D.O.D and Hannah Laing. Ferguson said:

"I had a day booked in the studio with Stevie (Jackson) from Belle & Sebastian, Dave (McGowan) from Teenage Fanclub and my wee brother Mike, but a couple days before the session I had the feeling there was still one song missing. I got out of bed in the middle of the night, picked up the guitar and thrashed out what would become Get Over It in one go, singing gobbledegook into my dictaphone. In the morning I wrote lyrics based off the nonsense and found tonnes of meaning buried in it. The vibe I got was bitter rumination but also a sort of burgeoning excitement for being free of the whole thing. Even though I’m saying I can’t get over it, I’m also saying thank God it’s over.

"I brought it to my ad hoc Glasgow supergroup and it instantly came alive. I knew straight away we had the first Ferguson Hi-Fi single."

After recently playing their first live shows in their hometown of Glasgow, supporting Sharp Pins, the four-piece, completed by guitarist Darren McCaughey, bassist Rachel Wilson and drummer Shaun Hood, will perform at Tenement Trail in Glasgow on October 10.

Before releasing Get Over It, Ferguson shared 'Fergusongs Vol. 1' on Bandcamp, a collection of 10 dictaphone demos marking his return to music after Wuh Oh.

Belle and Sebastian, meanwhile, recently scheduled another round of UK and European dates for their tour celebrating the 30th anniversary of their debut LP 'Tigermilk' and sophomore album 'If You're Feeling Sinister'. They have a tour of Australia booked next month and they released their most recent albums, 'A Bit Of Previous' and 'Late Developers', in 2022 and 2023, respectively.

Teenage Fanclub are set to release their 13th studio album, 'Do Not Dare To Dream', on October 9 via Merge Records. Singles already shared include There Was You and Day In The Sun. They'll support the LP with a UK and European tour this autumn.
