Cult of Luna have outlined plans for their 10th studio album.

The Swedish post-metal band will release 'In the Shadow of Your Shadow’ through their own RED CRK label on November 6, following 2023's 'Vertikal' and its companion EP 'Vertikal II'.

Co-produced with Daniel Berglund and mixed by Magnus Lindberg, the record is described as one of the band's darkest and most emotionally intense projects yet, and features guest appearances from Gojira frontman Joe Duplantier and David Eugene Edwards. 

To mark the announcement, the band have shared the album's epic title track, which runs for more than seven minutes and blends towering riffs with atmospheric textures, exploring old trauma resurfacing after years of silence and the return of a destructive force once believed to have been defeated. Frontman and guitarist Johannes Persson explained:

"In the Shadow of Your Shadow is written through the eyes of the traitor within. A battle once fought and believed to be won. A conviction that this venomous part of yourself had been buried so deep it could never return. But it was always there, hidden in the cracks of the persona. Silent. Patient. Waiting for the right moment to emerge once again.

"Stagnation is the only thing that scares me. I’ve said this in every interview I’ve done for the past 25 years: I don’t care whether or not people think we’re repeating ourselves. As long as we feel like we aren’t, we will continue to do this."

Cult of Luna are set to headline ArcTanGent festival near Bristol in August, followed by an appearance at Damnation Festival in Manchester in November.

Last year, the band expanded their ongoing Beyond series with a three-song EP titled 'Beyond III, IV, V'.
