Tortoise are an instrumental post-rock band from Chicago, Illinois.
Formed in 1990, the band quickly became pioneers of their genre, innovating rhythmic, jazz-inspired soundscapes without relying on traditional song structures. They have released seven studio albums to date, with the most recent being 'The Catastrophist' in 2009.
