The Alchemist—real name Alan Maman—is a producer, DJ and rapper from Beverly Hills, California.

Starting his music career in 1991 as one half of hip hop duo The Whooliganz, he eventually embarked on a solo career, and has put out four studio albums and countless mixtapes and EPs under the Alchemist moniker. His most recent studio serving, 'The Alchemist Sandwich', arrived in 2022.

He has also collaborated with a number of other artists, including Action Bronson, Freddie Gibbs and Wiki, and has lent his production talents to projects by Fat Joe, Ghostface Killah, Nas, Linkin Park, 50 Cent, Kendrick Lamar, Earl Sweatshirt, Denzel Curry, Eminem, ScHoolboy Q, Alt-J, Trash Talk and Joey Bada$$. He also composed the official score to the video game Grand Theft Auto V.
