Matthew McConaughey is an actor from Uvalde, Texas.

Landing his big break in the early 1990s, he became well known for his roles in romantic comedies, starring in movies such as The Wedding Planner, How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days, Failure To Launch, Ghosts Of Girlfriends Past and Magic Mike.

In 2013, however, he showed the world that he was not just the Hollywood heartthrob he'd grown to be seen as, winning an Academy Award and a Golden Globe for his portrayal of Ron Woodroof, a cowboy diagnosed with AIDS, in the biopic Dallas Buyers Club.

Since then, he's gone on to appear in acclaimed films and series such as The Wolf of Wall Street, True Detective, Interstellar and The Gentlemen.
