John Mellencamp is an American singer-songwriter and musician hailing from Seymour, Indiana.

He is best recognised as a rock and roll musician, though he's also an accomplished actor and painter.

Having played in bands in his teens, Mellencamp went on to pursue a solo career after graduating from university, and hasn't looked back since.

Mellencamp has shifted over 40 million records worldwide. He released his debut album, 'Chestnut Street Incident', in 1976, but it was his 1982 effort 'American Fool' that saw him topping the US charts, going on to become multi-platinum — the first of many multi-platinum discs he would receive over the years.

Best recognised for tracks like Hurts So Good, R.O.C.K in the USA, Cherry Bomb, Crumblin' Down, and Jack & Diane, amongst others, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer is still doing his thing today, releasing his 25th studio album 'Orpheus Descending' in 2023. A follow-up, titled 'Orphan Train', is expected in 2026.
