Grandmaster Flash—real name Joseph Saddler—is a hip hop producer and DJ from The Bronx, New York.

Rising to prominence in the late 1970s as the leader of Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five, he's widely regarded as a pioneering figure in hip hop that had a massive role in shaping the genre as we know it today. The group released three albums together before splitting in 1988, with Flash continuing to perform and record solo.

He put out his debut album 'Ba-Dop-Boom-Bang' in 1987, followed by 'The Bridge (Concept of a Culture)' in 2009, and has collaborated with the likes of Q-Tip, Busta Rhymes and Snoop Dogg.

In 2007, Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five became the first hip hop group to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
