The Edmonton Oilers are a Canadian ice hockey team hailing from Edmonton, Alberta. Founded in 1972, they play in the NHL's Western Conference, and compete in the Pacific Division.

The Oilers boast the fact that their '80s team is honoured as one of NHL's dynasties, having won five Stanley Cups almost consecutively in that decade - their 1983–84, 1984–85, 1986–87, 1987–88 and 1989–90 seasons all ended in glory.

However, Oilers fans will be less likely to mention the fact that their team has fared a lot worse in recent years - they haven't qualified for the playoffs since making it all the way to the Finals in 2006.
